Berkeley Palmer - Employment Outlook for 2008
Overland Park, KS (PRWEB) February 6, 2008 -- According to Berkeley Palmer the Kansas City area career management firm, the first half of the year might be troubling for the over all job market, with a slight surge at the end of the year.
Berkeley Palmer sites the Wachovia Research Team's data which states that a net loss of 17,000 non-farm related jobs in January. While this number may sound high, it is actually mild compared to the jobs situation of 2003. In that case, the jobs report ended up showing an increase after several revisions, which is the normal process for such reporting.
A spokes person for Berkely Palmer says that even if this number stands, it only represents a loss of about 65 jobs per city of the 260 US cities with populations greater than 100,000. "We don't wish to minimize the impact this has on individuals, but we want to help keep things in perspective."
Most of the jobs lost are hourly jobs. Berkely Palmer works with executive and managerial level professionals and feels that the outlook for these positions is still favorable.
The professionals at Berkely Palmer also note that visits to employment websites increased by 22% in January, according to Hitwise. This is where the hourly and mid-level jobs are found. Most executive level positions are not found in this way.
